The evolution of music goes hand in hand with the development of humans and societies in a wide range of ways. Be it facilitating the primal need for expression and communication, supporting traditional rituals or purely entertaining, music is a vital and important artform which touches all of us in many aspects of our lives.
If you begin to consider what we can define as music it opens up the possibility for endless experimentation and development. As music is essentially the creation of sound in a relevant context, we can draw the conclusion that anything, or anyone, that can create sound can be considered as an instrument or a musician.
It's this concept that underpins the work Jestival do in our music outreach and we believe that, as such, there's a place for everyone to be a part of music and its creation. Our music workshops promote positive interaction, expression, self discipline and creative development through access to both traditional and innovative musical instruments and techniques.
